{"id":107,"date":"2014-08-02T17:20:36","date_gmt":"2014-08-02T17:20:36","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/mtpisgahjville.com\/?page_id=107"},"modified":"2025-12-27T18:12:06","modified_gmt":"2025-12-27T18:12:06","slug":"the-deacons","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/mtpisgahjville.com\/?page_id=107","title":{"rendered":"The Deacons"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2 style=\"text-align: center;\">Welcome to the MPBC Deacons&#8217; Page<\/h2>\n<p><strong>The Deacons of Mount Pisgah Baptist Church are Blessed to be a part of the Mighty Men of The Mount!<\/strong><\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><span style=\"color: #993300;\"><b>Look out and see&#8230;those who are worthy, to be ordained&#8230;.\u00a0<\/b><\/span><\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p><span style=\"color: #800000;\"><strong>The Deacon&#8217;s Ministry is under the direct leadership of the Pastor, <\/strong><span style=\"color: #000000;\">a<\/span><\/span>nd his <span style=\"color: #800000;\"><strong>Chairman of the Deacon\u2019s Ministry. <\/strong><\/span>\u00a0Our Deacons are serving in the distinct <span style=\"color: #800000;\">Spirit of\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"color: #800000;\">Christ and<\/span>\u00a0motivated to meet the ever-growing needs of the church and its attendant ministries.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #800000;\"><strong>Mission Statement<\/strong> <\/span><\/p>\n<p>Our goal is to be the <span style=\"color: #800000;\"><strong>most accountable, effectual and valued Ministry<\/strong> <\/span>at <strong>Mount Pisgah Baptist Church<\/strong>. This is to take ownership in every area of the church to support \u201cthis church\u201d Mission: <span style=\"color: #800000;\">\u201cTo serve God, and to recognize that <strong>we must, &#8220;Do it God&#8217;s Way.&#8221;<\/strong> &#8220;Trust the Process!&#8221;\u00a0 We know we have a God who &#8220;Specializes in Rebuilding, Restoring, and Reviving Broken Lands and Broken Lives.\u201d\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #800000;\"><strong>Commitment<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p>As a Deacon of the Mount Pisgah, we are committed to the following core values:<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #800000;\"><strong>Faithfulness<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Prayer and Fasting<\/li>\n<li>Must be totally Committed and Loyal to the Pastor and the Deacon\u2019s Ministry!<\/li>\n<li>Influence young and old by the power of God\u2019s vision for His church, and model after Christ\u2019s own heart.<\/li>\n<li>Committed to my assignments by my participation \u2013 attending regularly establish church services.<\/li>\n<li>Encourage personal growth to develop one to be empowering from within.<\/li>\n<li>Focusing on our strength to bring a lost soul to Christ, no matter what their ethical background maybe<\/li>\n<li>Develop a Spirit of teamwork.<\/li>\n<li>Parting a legacy to those who will come after us (future deacons).<\/li>\n<li>Function the ministry proficiently and professionally.<\/li>\n<li>Supporting the pastor initiatives, both physically and financially.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"color: #800000;\"><strong>Accountability<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p>1. Held to high standards; being accountable; (for our every word and action). 2. In everything we do, be a role model in the way we serve. 3. In every person we come in contact with, treating them with dignity and respect.\u00a0 4. Support Mount Pisgah and its ministries to achieve their potential.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #800000;\"><strong>Teachable<\/strong> <\/span><\/p>\n<p>1.\u00a0\u00a0Be not afraid to receive teaching; provide the best servant (member) leadership. 2.\u00a0Increase communication and information from one to another. 3.\u00a0Be a competent, responsible group of Deacons, being a strong team. 4.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Always improving MPBC ministries whenever possible, and by improving ourselves through the Word of God.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #800000;\"><strong>Note:<\/strong><\/span> Ordained Deacons It was over 2000 years ago, the Holy Spirit spoke a word to His Holy Apostles and told them how to order, organize, and ordain the Early Church. The Word that the Holy Spirit spoke in the 3rd Chapter of the Book of Acts was the word &#8211; Deacon.<\/p>\n<p>For indeed one of the offices that were instituted by the Holy Spirit and revered within the Early church was the Office of the Deacon. Ordained Deacon serves in communion service, baptismal service, weddings, funerals and ordination services. All Deacons serves in sensitive areas within the church.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #800000;\"><strong>Our Deacons in Training<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p>Deacons in training are Deaconate candidates who are trained and tested to fulfill the functions of a Deacon within the church.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #800000;\"><strong>Activities\/Fellowships<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Offer the Lord&#8217;s Supper to the Sick &amp; Shut-In<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>Supports the People&#8217;s First Food Pantry.<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>Annual Church Picnic<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>Deacons&#8217; and wife&#8217;s breakfast<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>Deacons&#8217; Retreat<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>Annual Mother&#8217;s Day Car Wash<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>Annual SWAG Back to School Bash<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>Annual MPBC Thanksgiving Dinner for the Masses<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>Annual MPBC Christmas Musical-Play<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>Assist Members when needed<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>Serve the Widows, and the Sick and Shut-in<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"color: #800000;\"><strong>When We Meet<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Deacons&#8217; quarterly meeting<\/strong> &#8211; 1st new Sat &#8211; in the Quarter<\/li>\n<li><strong>Deacons&#8217; Prayer Service <\/strong>&#8211; every 1<sup>st<\/sup> Sunday, 8:15 am<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong><span style=\"color: #993300;\">Our Deacons (13)<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Deacon Joseph Bolden<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Deacon Curtis Caesar<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Deacon Steve Eskridge ~ Ministry Leader<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Deacon Joe W.
