PASTOR DOWAND MALONE BIO
Pastor Dowand Malone is a preacher, pastor, community servant, and visionary leader whose life has been shaped by a call to serve God and people.
Called to preach the Gospel at just eight years old, Pastor Malone has now spent more than 36 years proclaiming the Word of God. His ministry has been marked by a passion for biblical preaching, a heart for people, and a conviction that the church must minister beyond its walls.
In 2010, Pastor Malone followed God’s leading and founded Greater Fellowship Missionary Baptist Church, affectionately known as “The Ship,” in Sheffield, Alabama. The ministry began with 35 believers and, under his leadership, has grown into a congregation of more than 400 members. Greater Fellowship seeks to be a church where people can encounter Christ, grow in their faith, and experience the love of God in practical ways.
Pastor Malone believes ministry must reach both the spiritual and practical needs of people. Under his leadership, Greater Fellowship has become known for its commitment to serving the surrounding community through food assistance, clothing, utility assistance, outreach, prayer, and other forms of support for individuals and families experiencing difficult seasons.
That commitment to serving people is also demonstrated through The Love Closet, which provides clothing and other necessities to those in need, and Fresh Start Rehabilitation Center, an in-house rehabilitation and shelter ministry created to help individuals rebuild their lives and move toward stability, restoration, and a fresh start.
Pastor Malone is also committed to continuing his own growth as a student of Scripture. He is furthering his theological education through Perkins School of Theology, strengthening his work in biblical interpretation, preaching, and pastoral ministry.
His approach to ministry is rooted in the belief that preaching should not only inspire people on Sunday but also help them live faithfully throughout the week. Whether he is standing in the pulpit, serving someone in need, mentoring ministers, or working in the community, his desire is to make the love of Jesus Christ visible.
Beyond ministry, Pastor Malone is a devoted husband, father, and grandfather. He is married to First Lady Rita Malone, and together they have built a family centered on faith, love, and service. They are the proud parents of JaLyric, JaHarmony, Caidon, and Caitlin, and proud grandparents of Major and Navy.
After more than three decades of preaching and years of pastoral leadership, Pastor Dowand Malone remains committed to the same calling that began in his life as a young boy: to preach Christ, love people, serve the community, and help others experience the transforming power of God.
Preaching Jesus. Serving people. Strengthening families. Making disciples.
